TPM – The New Criteria to Choose A Good E-cig

What are the criteria for a good e-cig? People used to rely on some subjective opinions such as KOLs’ reviews to choose their vaporizers, are there more objective criteria to do that? This article introduces TPM and explains how it helps us to assess a good vape device.

What is TPM?

TPM is short for Total Particulate Matter. It represents the sum of all solid and liquid particles suspended in a vape cloud. Similar to the importance of PM2.5 in measuring air quality, TPM is an irreplaceable index in smoke quality testing.

As we all know, it is hard to quantify smoke level/dose with naked-eye observation. However, TPM measurement makes smoke quality become visualizable and measurable, and it can be further utilized in analyzing the chemical and physical properties of the smoke.

Also, TPM testing results provide a basis for research in environmental engineering and pathology. This is also the reason why TPM is seen as ‘a golden key for vaping technology’.

The application of TPM

‘A golden key can open any door.’ TPM is generally applied by many organizations in different industries. For instance, a study from WHO (World Health Organization) (2018) mentioned that

‘A review of WHO SOP-03 for TSNAs(Tobacco-specific nitrosamines) in mainstream tobacco smoke suggests that the chemistry of ENDS aerosol is compatible with the WHO SOP and that either aerosol TPM collected on CFPs(Cambridge filter pads) or e-liquid could be analysed.

As noted above, however, the reported levels of TSNAs in ENDS aerosol are below the reporting limit of the WHO SOP for TSNAs in tobacco smoke. ’

TPM is an international standard in the tobacco industry, and it is also applied to tests for e-cig commonly. To ensure the universality of the ‘golden key’, several specifications were set for different aspects, including smoking simulation, sampling methods, and experimental environments.

TPM and Puff Volume

Producing massive and stable vapor is the basic requirement for an excellent vape device. TPM (mg/puff) can reflect the puff volume of a vaping device.

Below Figure 1 shows the differences in puff volume between SILMO™ devices and other vaporizers.

As shown in the chart, the TPM value ofSLIMO™ devices stays steady between 6-7mg, while that of the contrasted devices is lower-lying between 3.5-5mg.
That is to say, in a single puff, the puff volume of SILMOTM device is 1.5-2 times that of other ordinary devices.
What’s more, the higher the number of puffs, the bigger disparity of puff volume.

TPM and Device Lifespan

Smoke simulation tests are conducted on the devices in the report. The test results bring out something new, such as the relationship between lifespan and heating coil.

Usually, the unstable vape performance of electronic cigarettes is caused mainly by the short lifespan of its heating coil. It is also the main reason for burnt taste, spit-back, and even not working. If vape devices that are applied the same heating coil have well performance in experiment, taste consistency and stability of this batch of products can be ensured.

Figure 2 illustrates TPM testing results under 500 puffs simulation.

After 500 puffs under the same conditions, the SILMO™ device performs steadily in the terms of puff volume.

However, the contrasting device performs well in the beginning while creates less and less puff volume even stops working finally.

TPM and Safety

It is the most important thing to make sure electronic cigarettes not release harmful substances over the standard when using.

With TPM, it is feasible to conduct some tests and analyses on the safety of e-cigarettes, for example, carbonyl compounds testing, the test items of which include formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, and acrolein.

We can find in the above charts:

The test results for formaldehyde and acetaldehyde of all tested devices are compliant with the requirements of TPD.
The μg of acrolein released bySILMO™ devices is far lower than the limit of TPD, while some results of contrasted devices fail to meet TPD requirements.

Conclusion

TPM shows us three important criteria of vaping technology:1. Puff Volume, 2. Safety, 3. stability

With TPM, vape manufacturers know how to produce vape products, and consumers know how to check the performance and safety of a vape device.

According to the above TPM tests, we know vape devices utilized different heating elements perform differently. Devices powered by SILMO™, a heating element technology developed by ALD Group Limited, perform excellently in the tests.

TPM test has to be conducted under strict experimental conditions. Besides, its testing devices are costly, so only top laboratories and research institutions can afford it. For e-cig users, it is not realistic to review a vape via TPM. Hong Kong customs seized 2.38 million yuan vaping products

Hong Kong Customs and the Department of Health took joint action on April 28th to crack down on the illegal sale of smoking alternative products in 15 upstairs and street shops in Wan Chai, Kwun Tong, Mong Kok, Sham Shui Po, Tsuen Wan and Yuen Long in Hong Kong. A total of 50,000 suspected nicotine products were seized. Those products have a market value of 2.38 million yuan. The customs arrested 20 people, including shop owners and employees, aged 20 to 41 years.

Earlier, the Hong Kong Customs and the Department of Health received reports that some retail outlets selling vaping products, carrying out illegal activities. There are some retail stores that sell legitimate products on the surface, such as atomizers and accessories, and secretly sell products with nicotine ingredients like e-liquid/vape juice. Although the products are not labeled with nicotine, some brands checked by the Department of Health have found it inside in the past. Those products are being tested.

VAZO pod system review

Appearance: This time I received the VAZO starter kit with the model number 111010. This is the basic anodized aluminum panel version. Vaping products are NOT tobacco monopoly commodities

Recently, a business owner who opened a convenience store in Guangdong left a message on the official website of the Guangdong Tobacco Monopoly Bureau and asked two very representative questions: One is whether e-cigarettes need to be certified to be sold offline; the other is whether it’s legal that county bureau administrators force offline stores to remove vaping products.

The staff of Guangdong Tobacco Monopoly Bureau replied and made it clear that “e-cigarettes are not tobacco monopoly products and do not apply to the adjustment of the Implementation Regulations of the Tobacco Monopoly Law”. Based on this clear answer, it can be concluded that e-cigarette business does not need a tobacco monopoly license.

The message board on the official website of Guangdong Tobacco Monopoly Bureau shows that the message time is April 14, 2020, and the reply time is April 23, 2020. The staff also explained the responding unit at the end, “Responsible unit: Monopoly Office of Guangdong Tobacco Monopoly Bureau (Company)”.

Guangdong Tobacco Monopoly Burea also denoted that the production and operation of e-cigarettes shall comply with the circular on banning the sale of e-cigarettes to minors (Circular No. 26, 2018 of the State Administration of market regulation and administration and the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration), and the circular on further protecting minors from e-cigarettes (Circular No. 1, 2019 of the state tobacco monopoly administration and the state market regulation and administration).

The staff from Monopoly Office of Guangdong Tobacco Monopoly Bureau didn’t mention the second question in the reply.

Camage:

The sweet and sour strawberry flavor brought me back to 2015 at once. The updated packaging has been replaced with a cool LOGO. Whether you look at it now or later, it looks so unique. The shortcomings are definitely there. I don’t know whether it is Phillip Rocke’s intentional purpose or the overall positioning of the product, the 6mg e-liquid that the I tried did not show a very good throat hit. In my eyes it is a false nic strength. You can image the nic content of 3mg e-liquid, which is basically 0mg. So it is recommended to choose 6mg, regardless of feelings and collocation, it will be more versatile. Of course, although the nic salt content is fake, in the heart of Captain Dirty, it is still a good vape juice worth vaping every day.

Colonel Keith Taylor’s story with a CBD company in China

The following account is the rest of the story involving FRAUD by the Chinese Company, HMI.

Read on and you will know.

Colonel Keith Taylor of Woodland Hills California, knowing in his years of research study of cannabis, that for him to get in the hemp business, he decided in April of 2017, to go to China where hemp and hemp derived products had been produced and sold for years. Colonel Taylor’s mission was to verify that the Chinese Company HMI actually had the technology to produce 99+percent CBD isolate on a commercial scale. In order to do so, Colonel Taylor knew it was necessary to visit HMI’s hemp growing operation located on the border of North Vietnam and Southern China. This area is referred to as the GOLDEN TRIANGLE. In order to produce CBD isolate, it requires the growing of the hemp plant, then the harvesting of the flower from the plant, the drying of the flower, then extraction of the CBD from the flower by way of ethanol extraction method, the purification and recrystallization processes.

While Colonel Taylor had researched the growing of hemp, processing the hemp flower and then producing CBD Oil, he found that the best formula for doing so required the patented process of HMI to first produce the CBD Isolate. Having had a naturalized Chinese partner for several years, he talked to a Chinese Company, named, HMI, about becoming a KRB partner in a Kentucky project known as Kings Royal Biotech, Inc (KRB). He made an oral arrangement with HMI to become a thirty-five percent owner of KRB in return for a grant to KRB of the use of the HMI patent for producing CBD Isolate from the processed flower. The agreement reached also included HMI’s commitment to design the required processing plant and contribute to the cost of construction. He would later find that rather than help for KRB, HMI had other plans than to support KRB.

Colonel Taylor decided to take his launching the biggest crop of hemp ever grown in the United States in modern times, to the State of Kentucky, because his roots are in Kentucky where his family made their home initially in Calloway County. Not only that, he has a great fondness for the Commonwealth for the traditions of the Kentucky Derby, basketball and bourbon whiskey. He knew Kentucky had plenty cropland where he could raise the largest crop of hemp in the United States. He also knew Kentucky had adopted the Hemp Research Project authorized by Federal law and administered through state agriculture departments. He started his work in Kentucky in the summer of 2017 and soon found the land needed in Carlisle and Hickman Counties. He contracted with farmers there to grow his first large acreage of 2300 acres. He secured the necessary license, purchased the required seed in late 2017, and in the summer of 2018, soon all the 2300 acres were growing hemp. He knew after study of the use of all the hemp plant, that the stalk could be sold for a good profit for fiber. Colonel Taylor has also found a technology for producing products from this fiber that could make the fiber more valuable than the hemp flower.

HMI officials traveled to Frankfort, Kentucky in that summer of 2017 for a meeting with Kentucky Officials and participated in the planned growing of hemp and construction of a processing plant. HMI soon signed a Contract with KRB to help finance and construct the processing plant in Carlisle and officials from HMI traveled to Carlisle County in the early summer of 2018 for the announcement and ground breaking of the Plant. The contract required HMI to provide the drafting of the design of the plant. HMI slowly began sending partial drafts of such design and soon enlarged the drawings requiring substantially more funding until HMI provided no funding and it became obvious that they did not intend to design the processing plant or provide any funding. Obviously, this left KRB surprised but the Company proceeded with plans to soon be harvesting of the 2300 acres. Some of the required payments were made to the manager of the project and the required payments to the four farmers was attempted by conveying a lucrative sales contract far worth more than was owed. One of the disappointments of Colonel Taylor was that no hemp stalks were preserved for marketing. These matters are presently in litigation.

It appears obvious that in HMI’s relationship with KRB was to learn of KRB plans to market a medicinal product in the United States. Even though HMI presently has no legal relationship with KRB, they are currently showing KRB as one of the subsidiaries of HMI. (See the Screenshot attachment.) What purpose would such a fraudulent relationship accomplish? The answer is found in a Chinese News publication, a copy of which is attached showing that the relationship was used to sell millions of dollars of new stock. (Morning Post Outlook attachment). Their website (See HMI Group-Company http://www.hmi.top/) really reveals the gross use of a fraudulent representation to accomplish their monetary purpose in stating, “Kings Royal Biotech Inc (hereinafter referred to as KRB) invested 40 million dollars in the industrial hemp extraction plant in Kentucky. With full inspection of global hemp extraction technology, the extraction technology of Hansu is accepted by KRB and invites Hansu to have 35% technology share of KRB.” That is a fraudulent statement and is made fraudulently just to increase the value of their stock in China. The Chinese news article mentioned above states that shares of the Industry Group shown the Screenshot above “soured as much as 35 percent on Thursday after it issued 312 million new shares.” By not pursuing support to KRB in Kentucky in 2018, this gave them a year jump on capturing the US market from KRB. They have built a plant in Las Vegas using HMI funds that were agreed to go to the same plant in Bardwell, Kentucky. Now they have been granted “the breeding, planting and extraction license by the U.S. government”, which is so stated on their website, previously mentioned.

Colonel Keith Taylor has been slowed down by the actions of the China Company HMI, but he has not been stopped. He still wants Kentucky to be the hemp market of the United States, not China HMI and associates. And to that end, his KRB Company with Kentucky partners plan to grow 2500 acres of hemp in the 2019 growing season. Colonel Taylor is firmly dedicated to providing CBD as a medicinal product to treat maladies of hurting people in Kentucky and throughout the United States.
